    Kocaeli

Kartepe, formerly called Keltepe (Bald Hill), lies in the southeast of the province of Kocaeli-İzmit. Kartepe Ski Center has been constructed at 1,650 m altitude on Mount Kartepe. Kartepe is covered in forests of hazelnut, oak, and chestnut trees with villages interspersed among the hillside fruit orchards. The easiest access to Kartepe Ski Center is from Maşukiye. Kartepe is the closest ski resort to İstanbul and in recent years, the popularity of the ski resort has been on the rise.

It is advisable to seek travel advise before you depart and check the snow depth at the resort in order to be abreast of the latest developments.

Kartepe Ski Center has 4 lifts, 3 chairlifts, and 1 teleski. The length of the tracks varies between 400 m and 3,500 m. The season lasts from the end of December to the end of February. Under normal conditions, the snow depth varies between 80 and 200 cm.

The ski center is 15 km from Maşukiye and 25 km from İzmit. It takes 1h 15 min to drive to Kartepe from İstanbul and 2 hours from Bursa.

You can rent skiing equipment and there are instructors available. Kartepe also boasts summer activities such as ATV tours, ziplining, mountain biking, paintball, horseback riding, and safari tours. The oxygen here is the perfect escape from the city!
