Kartalkaya has suitable conditions for alpine skiing, ski touring, and cross-country skiing. The skiing season begins in December and ends at the end of March.
The nearest city to the ski resort is Bolu, which is 38 km from Kartalkaya. Kartalkaya is a 4-hour drive from Ankara Esenboğa Airport and 6 hours by car from İstanbul Airport or İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. All three airports are international.

The ski area is at an altitude of 1,850-2,200 m, and the region has a semi-temperate climate. Kartalkaya and its surroundings are covered in forests, and the dominant wind direction is west/northwest.
There are five hotels with a total bed capacity of 1,600, and restaurants, swimming pools, nightclubs, and bars. Ski equipment rental and instructors are available. There are 2 chairlifts, 14 T-bars, and 4 baby lifts, with 38 ski runs covering a total length of 50 km.
Kartalkaya is one of the most popular ski centers in Türkiye for the younger generations. It also contains two different snow parks which meet European standards.
